When the Levees Broke



The lavish generosity of Spike Lee's four hour documentary and his proudly particularistic denunciation of President Bush's idiocy will be the only elements that might keep this film from transcending time to become a classic documentary text. The characters, the music, the cinematography, the storytelling -- all of these make for an intriguing, horrifying, entrancing, edifying viewing experience.
